Our current Sunday obsession; OKC breakfast and brunching. So, when a new breakfast place boasts the tagline, “Where every day is Sunday” you know we had to go!
Last weekend, my daughter and I decided to give the new Sunnyside Diner a try. The Sunnyside Diner is a riff on the classic American diner; a casual atmosphere, a long counter lined with bar stools, serving breakfast and lunch at a fast pace. You’ll find it near the corner of NW 6th and Classen in downtown Oklahoma City. You can’t miss the bright blue diner sign on the outside of the building. There is plenty of free parking on the street and in the nearby parking lot. They are open every day from 6am – 3pm.
The Food (OKC Breakfast)
Whenever we go out for breakfast, my husband always orders the huevos rancheros if it’s a menu option. Since he was golfing instead of brunching, I ordered it just so I could send a picture and tease him. My daughter ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast (yes, we sent him a picture of that too). Her chicken fried steak was a tad overdone but everything else was fantastic. We were seated at the counter near the service window. So, we had the unique opportunity to see all the different dishes being served. We both marveled at the pancakes. They were HUGE, overtaking the dinner plates they were served on. We wished they offered a small silver dollar version so that we could have sampled just a bit for dessert. Full menu
From the friendly welcome from the hostess to the top-notch service we received at the counter, we were not disappointed. Everyone working there seemed to really like their job. It’s refreshing to see employees dedicated to customer service. It definitely showed!
Next Sunday as you decide where to go for an OKC breakfast or brunch, give Sunnyside Diner a try. Maybe I’ll see you there, I’ll be trying the blueberry pancakes!
